Cook County offers 867 lakes to choose from when it comes to ice fishing. Some are inside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), and some are not. BWCAW regulations (non-motorized area) apply year-round.
Lake Trout is the favored species for winter fishing. You can try your luck at northern, walleyes, Rainbow Trout, and a variety of pan fish, depending upon the lake.
