Erik Koskinen – Monday Songwriter Series at Papa Charlie’s
January 7 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pmFree
On Monday & Wednesday evenings, Papa Charlie’s transforms into a listening room showcasing the Midwest’s top songwriters in a theater-like setting. The intimate room and great sound gives the audience an opportunity to immerse into the stories and craft of the song.
Since the release of Live at the Real-Phonic Radio Hour in June 2015, Erik Koskinen has been writing and recording music in his Real-Phonic Studios in Minneapolis. Cruising Paradise, Koskinen’s new EP, features first single “Broke Down,” engineered by Tom Garneau and recorded with JT Bates (drums), Mike LaBeau (guitar), Paul Bergen (guitar) and Steve Garrington (bass).
“The best country songwriter in Minnesota, Erik Koskinen doesn’t sing about tailgating, partying with babes and driving down dirt roads. He’s more old school, with a focus on working-class themes, whether it’s about the effects of oil in “Boomtown,” the calling of a musician in “Six Pack of Beer and a Pack of Cigarettes” or the challenges of being unemployed on Independence Day in “Slow Burn.” Those tunes are on his splendid second album, “America Theatre,” a collection that would make Merle Haggard proud.”

Please Note: In an effort to create the listening room environment, we ask all guests in the main room to limit conversation during the performance. Guests looking for casual dining and conversation may be seated in the adjoining Mountain View Grill.
It’s free every Monday & Wednesday night at 8:00 PM
