Historic Trails in Northern Minnesota–PBS Documentary Viewing at Voyageur Brewing Company
February 27 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Historic Trails in Northern Minnesota explores the history and current uses of two of the greatest trails across Northern Minnesota: The Gunflint Trail and the Mesabi Trail. We’ll learn about how these paths were forged, about the people who’ve traversed them, and what lies ahead for these winding paths.
“We’re excited to share the complex history of these trails,” said Lance Haavisto, interim production manager. “From the native nations, to the early homesteaders, to the miners and loggers, these trails are steeped in a winding, complex history. We hope that people will learn about those who’ve passed before us, using these trails to not only enjoy the incredible beauty, but as a path to create industries, livelihoods and communities.
“I hope that it gives viewers something special to reflect on next time they use one of these great trails,” Haavisto added.
The public is welcome to enjoy a free screening before the documentary’s television premiere at the Voyageur Brewing on February 27, 2019 at 6pm. The documentary was produced with the support of the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
