Plein Air Grand Marais is a 19 year tradition that brings outdoor painters to the North Shore of Lake Superior for a week of competition, workshops, and friendship. The event is hosted by Outdoor Painters of Minnesota and Cook County Historical Society’s Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery. The competition class has 66 invitational and juried painters. An Open Class of painters exhibit their work and compete in the Quick Paint event on Artist’s Point.

Throughout the week you will find painters in every corner of Cook County painting the scenery – at the end of the week you can see their work displayed at the Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery (115 Wisconsin St, Grand Marais) – the exhibition will last through October 10th.
