Plein Air Grand Marais
September 7 - September 14
Plein Air Grand Marais
An annual tradition that has brought outdoor painters to Lake Superior’s North Shore and the community of Grand Marais for fifteen years. Starting in 2018, Outdoor Painters of Minnesota will collaborate with the Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery in Grand Marais to continue the event and expand its scope, with workshops, demos and daily activities to engage painters, visitors, and community members of Grand Marais.
Three of Minnesota’s internationally-acclaimed painters – Jeffrey T. Larson, Mary Pettis, and Andy Evansen – will present a panel discussion on plein air painting over the noon hour on
Thursday, September 13.
It’s a Thursday night tradition! After the Quick Paint, painters gather at the harbor picnic shelter at the Grand Marais Municipal Campground to sing, play music along with
OPM’s ad-hoc band “The Plain Errors,” and celebrate the week’s painting achievements.
