Take a Kid Fishing 2019

Interested in teaching your kid how to fish and enjoy the many lakes in Cook County? Then join the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Cook County Soil & Water Conservation District, and the United States Forest Service for a day of fishing on Saturday, June 8, from 9 am – 12 pm at the Mink Lake Beach in Cook County. Lunch and water will be provided.
What you need to bring: a child 5-12 years, accompanied by an adult; appropriate clothing for being near water (jacket, hat, sunglasses, sturdy shoes, insect repellent, and a life jacket, if you have one).
Some life jackets and fishing rods will be available, but due to limited supply, please bring your own if you have them.
Directions to Mink Lake from Grand Marais: travel 12 miles north on the Gunflint Trail (County Rd. 12), turn right at the Trout Lake Road (FR 140), travel a little over 2 miles, passing the Mink Lake Fishing Pier, turn left at the east end of the lake until you reach the beach.
