Sugarloaf: The North Shore Stewardship Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of Minnesota’s North Shore of Lake Superior. We operate Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center, near Schroeder, Minnesota and we offer forest stewardship learning opportunities for residents – seasonal and year round – and visitors of the North Shore.

Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center, located on Highway 61, 73 miles northeast of Duluth and 4 miles southwest of Schroeder, is the natural place to escape the crowds and relax. The Cove is renowned for its 1.1 billion year old lava flows and its beautiful cobblestone beach. The Center offers a breadth of nature oriented activities and learning opportunities for families and individuals:

  • Guided Nature Walks and Programs
  • Self-guided one mile Nature Trail
  • Unique Geologic Formations
  • Historic Logging Operation Artifacts
  • Interpretive Center with exhibits

Sugarloaf relies on membership dues, grants, and donor gifts to continue operating.
