June 30, 2025 – Grand Marais, Minn.– The Cook County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony today, marking the official grand opening of the brand-new playground at the Cook County Community YMCA. Attendees joined in celebrating this significant community milestone.
This new playground is a tremendous addition to Cook County, providing a much-needed safe and engaging form of entertainment for the youth of the community. It represents a commitment to fostering healthy activities and opportunities for local children and families.
This playground was made possible by generous grants through the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation, the Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB), and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
"The Cook County Community YMCA's new playground is a fantastic asset for our community," said Linda Jurek, Executive Director of the Cook County Chamber of Commerce. "We were incredibly happy to be part of such a joy-filled event, celebrating a space that will bring so much happiness and safe recreation to our youth. Congratulations to the YMCA and Cook County on this wonderful achievement!"
