Superior National Forest has issued an Expanded BWCAW Closure Order to protect the health and safety of visitors and firefighters due to the wildfires. Forest-wide fire restrictions are also in effect.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning effective July 12, 2026 due to extreme heat and dry conditions. Red Flag Heat and Fire Alert (limits on campfires and reminder to drink water).

Gunflint Trail Association Music Reimbursement Program

This program is for the Gunflint Trail Association to increase and support live music along the Gunflint Trail. The program is for active stakeholders of Visit Cook County in the Gunflint Trail Lodging Tax District.   

A stakeholder is defined as:

  • An entity that opts in to marketing through Visit Cook County
  • An entity that collects lodging tax in Cook County, MN

 

Program valid 5/1/26 – 4/30/27 (Visit Cook County's fiscal year)

  • Eligible entities reimbursed 50% of payment to musician or band
  • Limit of $750 per establishment for the fiscal year above
  • A total of $2,000 has been allocated to this program. Reimbursement is dependent on available funds.
  • In order to be an eligible music performance, a stakeholder seeking reimbursement must have submitted the event to the Visit Cook County events calendar.
  • Program subject to blackout dates of the following:
    • Memorial Day Weekend
    • Fourth of July Weekend
    • Labor Day Weekend
    • MEA Weekend
    • New Year’s Eve
    • MLK Weekend
    • President’s Weekend

 

In order to receive a reimbursement, please submit an invoice following the performance and after musician(s) payment no later than 4/30/2027 to billing@visitcookcounty.com
