Cook County Chamber of Commerce Announces First-Ever Bonding Tour Visit
New Video and Lobbying Efforts Bring State Bonding Tour to Cook County
August 25, 2025 – Grand Marais, Minn. – The Cook County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that, for the first time in history, the Minnesota House Capitol Investment Committee will be visiting Cook County. This significant achievement is the result of a collaboration between the Chamber, local video production company Bear Witness Media, and the Chamber's new lobbying team, Carnival Berns PA.
A recent video, created by M Baxley of Bear Witness Media, was instrumental in bringing attention to the specific infrastructure and project needs within Cook County. The powerful visual storytelling highlighted key initiatives, including the wastewater treatment plant, Cook County Higher Education funding, and the North Shore waste transfer station. This, combined with the strategic advocacy of Carnival Berns PA, successfully made the case for the bonding tour to make a stop in the community.
"This is a pivotal moment for Cook County," said Linda Jurek, Executive Director of the Cook County Chamber of Commerce. "We are incredibly grateful for the hard work of M Baxley of Bear Witness Media for creating such a compelling video, and for the expert guidance of Carnival Berns PA. We also owe a huge thank you to Representative Skraba for his efforts in making this happen; we could not be more appreciative. Their efforts have brought an unprecedented opportunity to our doorstep, allowing us to directly showcase our needs and priorities to state leaders."
The bonding tour will be held on October 8th at 2:00 PM in downtown Grand Marais. This visit will provide an opportunity for local leaders to meet with legislators and advocate for projects that will secure future funding and support for Cook County. The visit is a critical step toward securing funding that will support the region's long-term growth and stability.
