FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2026 Great Place Project Applications Open April 17th!

Transforming public spaces through local art and creative business improvements.

March 31, 2026-- Cook County, MN.--The Cook County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that applications for the annual Great Place Project Grant Program will be open from April 17th to May 15th, 2026. This year’s initiative is supported by a $5,831 donation from Art ‘Round Town as they conclude their operations, along with a $1,000 contribution from the Grand Marais Area Tourism Association. We are incredibly grateful for these donations, which help ensure the continuation of this program for our business community.

“It is so special to see these funds stay right here in our community,” said Linda Jurek, Executive Director of the Cook County Chamber of Commerce. “The Great Place Project is all about those small, thoughtful touches–like a new bench or a local mural–that make you stop and smile.”

This program allows businesses and organizations to apply for funding ranging from $250 to $1,000 to transform their public-facing spaces. This grant is a great opportunity for Chamber members to make a lasting positive impact through artistic expression or functional improvements. Please make sure to review the grant guidelines for this year's application cycle. We have made some small changes to allow for the greatest impact of funds.

Submit your application at cookcountychamber.org. If you would like to help ensure the continuation of this amazing initiative by making a donation to the cause, please contact director@cookcountychamber.org to pledge your support today!
